Examination for Overseas Qualified Dentists

NB Unfortunately, this course is no longer being run by Dental Angels and there is at present no plans to run the course in the future.

Dentist from outside Europe may have qualifications that are not recognised by the General Dental Council.  In order to work in the UK legally as a dentist you may have to sit  The Overseas Registration Examination ORE.    The ORE aims to test the clinical skills and knowledge of candidates to ensure they meet the standard expected of UK graduate dentists on their first application to the GDC.

The examination is centred around the UK dental curriculum.  Once dentists have passed this exam they become eligible to  apply to the GDC for registration.  As soon as they are registered by the GDC dentists will then be allowed to practice dentistry in the UK.

ORE is a 2 part course which must be taken, and passed, in order.  Part 1 test candidates clincal knowledge, whilst part 2 is a practical test of candidates clinical skills.
